Agriturismo Corsica

The French island of Corsica is located in the Mediterranean Sea and is one of the biggest islands there, as well as one of the most popular summer destinations. It is situated right next to Sardinia and the Italian peninsula. Despite mainly serving as a summer vacation spot, Corsica has much more to offer to those who wish to explore its land. The island territory is largely mountainous thus winning itself the nickname “mountain in the sea”.

Lush vegetation and an extremely enjoyable climate will welcome you the second you get off the boat on the Corsican coast. Farming is one of the main economic activities on the island. If you want to learn the most about the local culture and traditions, consider booking an agritourism holiday here! You will get acquainted with some of the finest agricultural practices in winemaking and meet the locals! Agritourism is also a great way to have a different vacation experience, which is still closely connected to nature, but in a different manner. You might even gain some friends for life!

Corsican nature

The Corsica Regional Nature Park covers almost half of the island. The vegetation on Corsica is truly remarkable and due to the existence of rare plant and animal colonies, there is a need for strict preservation of some parts, especially in the central part of the island. On the regional park’s premises you can also visit the Restonica Gorges. The locals believe this as the most beautiful place on the island. It is a series of gorges by the river Restonica flowing through the highlands. Besides the amazing scenery, you can also try the hiking routes. However, driving through the canyon seems to be a favored activity – the route is smooth, with many viewpoints along, as well as numerous picnic areas.

Activities

Numerous walking and hiking paths cross the regional park of the island, especially near the dense forest and mountain massifs in the central part of Corsica. You can even walk the whole distance between the southeastern and northwestern part of the island on one of the most popular long-distance routes – GR20. This trail takes a few days to complete, but the views along the route and the whole experience of the island will leave a mark in your memory forever.

Of course, by choosing Corsica as your destination, you must be a fan of beaches! Due to the island’s location, the beaches are usually packed with tourists throughout the summer months. However, spring and autumn are off-peak seasons, when you can enjoy the beaches better. As a general rule, the pebbly beaches on the west Coast right north of the city of Porto are always a bit less crowded than the rest. If you love water, but would rather escape the crowds on the busy Corsican beaches, then we have the perfect solution for you! If you go on a day trip to the Gorges of Restonica, and you take one of the hiking trails, you will eventually arrive at a series of naturally formed ponds, where you can sunbathe and dip in the fresh mountain water.
