Chalet Normandy

Nature.house is here to offer you an amazing stay in one of the most mysterious and majestic lands- Normandy. The company comprises mainland Normandy as well as the Channel Islands with its inhabitants being the Normans, populating the homeland of the Norman language. Normandy’s name comes from the settlement of the territory by the Vikings (Northmen) back in the 9th century. The cultural region of Normandy is roughly similar to the historical Duchy of Normandy, which includes small areas now part of the departments of Mayenne and Sarthe. Your chalet in Normandy will bring you memories for years to come.

Exploring Normandy’s nature treasures

One of the most significant and astounding locations in the area of Normandy is The Mont Saint-Michel island. It is a small, rocky tidal island in Normandy, France located on a large bay at the mouth of Couesnon, and the granite massif of Mont Saint-Michel is crowned with a medieval abbey. Since 1898, a statue of Saint Michael has stood on the spire of the abbey church, towering one hundred and seventy meters above the bay. The island is located about 1 kilometer off the coast near the town of Avranches in Normandy. It is originally a tidal island - was accessible by land at low tide, but at high tide it was surrounded by water.

Today a narrow bridge, with shuttle service, runs to the island. The Mont Saint-Michel, with its stairways, is only accessible to pedestrians. Normandy is also famous for its salt marshes that are close to the sea, and are unique in France. If you are a fan of the woods, they are there for you! In the ancient Andaine forest, you will get to see astonishing views, different kinds of birds and plants. There also are a lot of local myths and legends about the deep wilds of the forest. The forest is always in its splendor, especially during the autumn, when mushroom season is at its swing.

Outdooring in Normandy

On top of the beautiful as well as breathtaking views, the land is covered with plenty of outdoor activities. One of the not that many typical sports is the Land Sailing or the so called “sand yachting”, which is being practiced on the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel. “Yachting” on the sands, you will be driving a motor vehicle powered by a wing. For the adrenaline lovers, there is also Bungee Jumping that can be found in Normandy’s countryside – Calvados. Every year, people from all around the world come here to experience exactly this full of thrill. Because of the views coming from the high hills in the region, Paragliding is also a must while in Normandy! Paragliding can be found and practiced on Omaha Beach, Vierville sur Mer, Commes, and Tracy sur Mer. If you feel comfortable with heights, and are extremist, this might be just for you. The location of this ancient and amazing region – Normandy, provides plenty of outdoor activities for every taste that can be practiced out there, including Kayaking, Skydiving, Fat Biking, and many more!
