This nature house is located in rural Merkem, 15 km from Ypres. This historic city is known for its rich history and lasting memories of WWI. Our cottage is non-smoking and equipped with all comforts from TV in the rooms to use of barbecue with charcoal, availability of bicycles, toys, board games and puzzles for the kids. The nature house is located in the rural area of Merkem and is characterized by open landscapes. The vacation home is a detached house with a very large garden in which as many as 60 vines are planted. About four kilometers away is provincial domain De Blanckaert, a beautiful nature reserve located on the Merkem brooks landscape. This landscape is preserved by natuurpunt as an open polder landscape. You can hike on the provincial hiking network and map out your own route. A ready-made walking route takes you after a 45-minute walk to the Madeliefje farm where you can eat delicious farmhouse ice cream. From the vacation home you can quickly reach the provincial cycling network from where you can make beautiful trips through the polder landscape. Larger cities such as Ypres (12 km) and Diksmuide (10 km) are easily accessible by both bike and car. Both have a very nice tourist offer. For example, in Diksmuide you can canoe.
