A simple rural breakfast with local products and fresh eggs from our chickens is optional. Relax on the deck chairs under the trees, or laze in the hammock with a good book. Bourtange is an old fortified town in the municipality of Westerwolde 1 km from the German border. It is wonderful to stay in the small streets of Bourtange and on the market square where nice restaurants, small stores, art and history go together. Many events are organized in the fortress for young and old. In the fortress is an information center Terra Mora of the Groninger Landscape. Fun for children interactive museum. Cannon shooting in Bourtange and Dinopark in Wedde. Many beautiful natural areas where you can still find true peace and quiet. You could also encounter the Konik horses in the Bourtangerveld around Bourtange. In Westerwolde you can cycle and walk endlessly through an intimate landscape of forests, fens, and streams. Enjoy the landscape of the Ruiten Aa and the many forests. The Westerwoldepad is one of the famous hiking trails. You may encounter special birds including the Kingfisher which is often spotted at the Ruiten Aa.
