A beautiful nature house in the small village of ‘De Kiel’ (300 citizens) in the province of Drenthe. The cottage is located closely to woods with many possibilities to go out for recreational cycling and hiking. Inside the cottage is a large living room (about 300 ft²) with an open kitchen area. There is one separate bedroom with two single beds (6.56ft/2.12ft) and there is a double sofa bed in the living room. The bathroom has a shower-cabin and a toilet. There is a sunny private terrace in a big garden outside of the cottage, which is perfect for relaxing. The ruralhut is not attached to another house. In the garden is a shack for storing bikes and garden furniture is available. One car can be parked on the property. A Wi-Fi-connection is available during your stay.

De Kiel is a village in the municipality of Coevorden, Drenthe, two kilometers north of Schoonoord and it’s the most northern village of the municipality. Emmen (15 kilometer) is famous for the big zoo, called ‘Wildlands’, and there are plenty options for shopping. Multiple museums are located in the area within a range of 15-20 Kilometer (9.5 to 12.5 miles), mostly exhibiting the history of the province of Drenthe. Due to the central location of De Kiel, it’s a perfect location for day trips throughout the whole province. You can reach the larger towns Emmen and Assen easily with direct bus connections. The village got it’s name from the keel-shaped ancient road crossing. On this spot was a so called “zevenmarkenpunt”, where seven old municipalities joined. This spot is marked with the ‘zevenmarken-stone’. Large woods, typical heathlands, forest lakes and a variation of deciduous and coniferous forest surround the village. The area is perfect for long hike and bike tours through nature. De Kiel is part of the ‘Ellertsveld route’ and is located on the ‘Pieterpad and Fietserpad trails. In the nearby village of Schoonoord, bikes can be rented (about 1.5 kilometers /one mile distance).
