On the southern edge of the Morvan lies this 350-year-old farmhouse. The nature house is located against the forest edge overlooking beautiful hills. The only neighbors live almost a kilometer away and their home is a rustic white castle. The farm belongs to the commune of Semelay. A small village is within walking distance, 2.5 kilometers, with a lovely restaurant where you can also buy takeaway. The post office in the village delivers fresh French bread! The nature house consists of a large living room with wood stove and open kitchen, two bedrooms, one bathroom and a separate toilet. Two more beds can be placed in the room in front of the bathroom, so a total of up to six people can stay there. The house has central heating, WiFi and Dutch TV. The enclosed garden makes the house suitable for your four-legged friends, who are very welcome. Garden furniture, a barbecue and a trampoline are available. For your children there are also games, a swing and a Sinkel's store. A 20-minute drive away is a larger town with supermarkets.
Nature and surroundings
A typical Morvan ganger will tell you that he comes home when he sees the first hedges. A Morvan lover loves hiking, (brisk!) biking, animals, plants, churches, castles and silence. He certainly doesn't come there to brush up on his French because you can't understand the dialect. What makes the Morvan so beautiful that you get homesick as soon as you are in Holland are the mornings that shroud the hills in mist until slowly the sun rises and the cows appear steaming as if from nowhere. The fresh breads at the little bakeries, the hundreds of birds that seem to play with each other all day, the locals with the eternal baguette under their arms, the cries of rutting deer in the fall, the wild boars that even the locals watch breathlessly, the buzzards and owls that are not used to people and fly by at a few meters' distance, the deer that are hunted but pampered outside the hunting season, the culture that goes back to the time of the Celts and the pine forests where a cracking twig provides an exciting fantasy.
