Nearly 49 kilometers of undisturbed cycling/walking or running trail along a paved former railroad line. Largely along the Dão River, giving not only beautiful views but also plenty of opportunity for swimming along the way. Prohibited to motorized traffic is the former railroad line between the towns of Santa Comba Dão and Viseu, the ´Linha do Dão´ which served for almost one hundred years (November 25, 1890 - September 25, 1988), now one of the longest ecopistas. Along the way it is also good to stop at several old railway stations that serve as restaurants and cafes after reconstruction. The ecopista makes for a perfect place to train for cycling, running, rollerblading, or just to walk or bike and swim at a river beach. The nature house is ideally located for these activities. Within 30 car minutes further is the Caramulo Mountains, where there is beautiful hiking. An hour's drive away is the core of the Serra da Estrela and also an hour's drive away is the sea. The beautiful city of Viseu and the attractive town of Caramulo are within 30 minutes by car or within two hours by bike. The village of Tondela itself is five minutes away by car.
