Valencian nature

Did you know that there are 22 national parks in Valencia? This is an enormous count, which even whole countries might not be able to cover. The natural landscape of this Spanish province includes a lot of mountains and beautiful coastal areas. However, there are also marshlands and islands, which are also parks of Valencia comunidad.

Albufera is one of the best national parks throughout spain. It is situated close to the city, while still providing peace and quiet to its visitors. This is a pure oasis surrounded by forests and rice fields, where you can enjoy the beaches, the stunning sunsets and the fun boat rides all in the same place. Except for its gorgeous beaches, Albufera is also known as the originating place of local cuisine and the famous dish paella.

La Albufera also has a huge freshwater lagoon. It is separated by the sea with the help of dunes and is breathtakingly beautiful. You can explore the water or just take a break and enjoy the day on its beach.

Another great park is the Sot de Chera Natural Park. On its premises you will find a system of canyons and gorges, as well as hundreds of springs crossing the park. Sot de Chera is a geological park where you can enjoy the enchanting scenery of many waterfalls such as the La Garita.

Explore the outdoors

Geopark Chera is famous for its numerous trails. As we mentioned, many of them will lead you to beautiful waterfalls. An interesting place in the park is the La Hoz ravine with its many small churches. Due to the existence of said churches, hiking this Geopark is often considered as a pilgrimage activity. Moreover, except for hiking, this park is suitable for cycling as well.

For an unforgettable adventure, especially if you are travelling with kids, definitely visit Valencia Bioparc. Visitors are allowed and in fact encouraged to interact with the animals in order to better understand their way of living. You will learn a lot about some of the rarest species of animals throughout Europe and have a chance to experience the unforgettable experience of feeding a baby gorilla.
