Cottages in East Tyrol
Austria is the crown jewel of Europe when it comes to nature and exclusivity! Take a look at our cottages in East Tyrol and enjoy both while reconnecting with nature and yourself! East Tirol provides visitors with a unique landscape of high mountains and palm trees – rarely found together anywhere else, especially in Europe. East Tyrol is known as the roof of Austria due to the fact that it is home to the highest mountains in the country – the Großglockner.
We offer numerous accommodation places in East Tirol. Our alpine cottages are situated in wonderful locations away from cities and close to nature. You can wake you to the sounds of birds, the murmur of a nearby stream, breathing fresh Alpine air. The houses are equipped in a manner to ensure your needs are met and you will enjoy a comfortable stay.
Discover the nature of East Tirol
The region of East Tyrol is extremely small, however it has more than 250 peaks higher than 3,000m! Even more surprising is the fact that most of them are located in the same park – Hohe Tauern National Park. This national park has a hiking and mountaineering history dating 200 years back!
Hohe Tauern is truly spectacular. The biodiversity is exceptional – the park is home to thousands of plant and animal species roaming freely on even the highest altitudes. This is also where you will find the largest glaciers in the eastern parts of the Alps. This national park I s a must see and it promises an adventure to everyone who visits. Fun fact: the inspiration for the establishment and the development of this park is the Yellowstone National Park in the USA!
Another great place to check out is the Assling Adventure World and Deer Park. You will witness animals in their natural habitat! This is also an area where you can definitely see the endangered European ibex! For the adventurous there is an Alpine Coaster, which you can ride down through the valley!
Activities
Hiking is of course among the best ways to explore East Tirol while enjoying the weather and a bit of exercise. There are hundreds of paths of different difficulty. The most famous is probably the Eagle Walk. It follows stages which become harder, however even if you finish Stage 1, you can consider yourself heroic enough. If you prefer a more laid back experience, then Hohe Tauern National Park is the place to be. There you can wander through the Katinmähder meadows or check out the Törlweg, which will lead you to the Lienz Dolomites.
If descending a hill on a mountain bike sounds better, then you will like East Tirol, too! Almost all of the massifs and mountains are mountain-bike-approved! You can even try some of the highest peaks in Austria or head to the lower parts of Hohe Tauern and just enjoy the landscape. Cycling is also a nice way to see more of the region. You should definitely consider cycling through the Lienz Basin countryside where an authentic Austrian atmosphere welcomes visitors.
