Winter cottages
In comparison to other continents, Europe is not as big, however there are many natural wonders for you to discover. Although spring and summer tend to be a more popular season to visit, winter here undoubtedly is remarkably beautiful and deserves your attention and time. Moreover, there are more than 400 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Europe and the list keeps on growing.
Our winter cottages spread across numerous destinations to choose from – the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and so on. Choose among different geographical locations based on your personal preference – a mountainous or a valley region, close to a river or even in a dense forest area. The cottages will ensure your comfort even during the coldest winter nights wherever you choose to stay.
Europe’s natural wonders
One of the greatest treasures throughout Europe is the Dolomites mountain range – the northern part of the Italian Alps. A place you must visit at least once in your lifetime, it takes your breath away with vertical walls, breathtaking cliffs, and narrow valleys. The landscape is exceptional and the roadways are famous among drivers across the whole globe. A popular destination in the region is the Lake Braies – a captivating high mountain lake which is even more beautiful during the winter months.
Sweden is also an amazing winter destination. The snow, the northern lights, nature, the people and their way of living in the hardly bearable cold – everything is fascinating. In order for you to fully grasp the term “real winter” head to Lapland. In Abisko, which is one of the northernmost points in Sweden and also one of the last train stops here, you can roam the nature with a guide and in complete darkness if you choose to visit during the “no-sun” period of December and January. Nevertheless, this is also the best time to see the Aurora Borealis as there is hardly any light to disturb your view.
Activities to consider
Of course, the Swiss or Italian side of the Alps is among the most popular destinations for a winter holiday in Europe. The ski resorts are suitable for anyone from beginners to professionals and whatever your level of expertise is, rest assured you will have a great time on the slopes. Our favorite ski resorts, which are less popular, but not any less good as St Moritz include, for example Todtnau the oldest German ski area and Saint Jean d'Arves – a very beautiful and less crowded ski resort in France.
Sweden is also a place of numerous activities – in Abisko National Park you can immerse yourself in not only the remarkable nature, but also in the Swedish culture. Here you can also learn about and experience the life of indigenous Sami communities. For the adrenaline-seeking travelers, wintertime Sweden offers a great opportunity to try snowmobiling. You will explore some of the greatest sceneries, away from all civilization in remote wild areas, which would otherwise be impossible to visit by any other type of transportation.
Also another well-known “adrenaline destination” is the Three Peaks Park in the Dolomites – rock climbers love this natural wonder and visit throughout the year (yes, even during winter).
